The Judicial Enforcement Division (JED) is responsible for providing a wide range of public services including serving process for civil actions, accepting and processing requests for weapons, collecting delinquent taxes and issuing pawnbroker licenses.

Civil Process Services
The JED serves all Superior Court civil processes including subpoenas, writs of execution, garnishment, restitution, replevins and attachment, orders of protection and injunctions against harassment, as well as various other in-state and out-of-state court documents. The Division levies on various forms of personal and real property, then disposes of the property through a Sheriff's auction. For information on current auctions, please click here

Additional Responsibilities
The Civil Unit is also responsible for the following:

  • Pawnbroker Licensing -- The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is mandated by law to issue and renew pawnbroker licenses within Maricopa County and verify compliance with statutory requirements. Interested applicants should contact the Sheriff’s Office at telephone 602-876-1844 and request a packet be mailed to them.
  • Tax Bill Collection – MCSO collects delinquent personal property taxes issued by the Maricopa County Treasurer. The Sheriff’s Office also auctions personal property seized to satisfy delinquent personal property bills. For questions, call 602-876-1831
