The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office volunteer Posse consists of non-compensated positions made up of people from all walks of life who want to assist law enforcement as a way to give back to their community. They contribute their varied skills and interests to one goal; support the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Posse branches train for many support functions to include: Search and Rescue, Crime Scene Security, Patrol Support, Administrative Assistance, Civic Functions, Disaster Relief, and Emergency Details.

Informational recruiting meetings for the volunteer Posse program are held once a quarter. The quarterly recruiting meetings are the third Wednesday of the months of January, April (canceled due to COVID-19), July (canceled due to COVID-19), and October (canceled due to COVID-19). The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 2627 S 35th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. For questions please contact Ivan Lopez.

Minimum requirements to join the Posse program include the following: at least 18 years of age, a legal US resident, have a valid driver's license, and be in good health. A person cannot have been convicted of any felonies, have any misdemeanor convictions in the last 12 months or a record of improper personal conduct, which may affect their suitability for assisting law enforcement.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with BAIR Analytics to provide public crime mapping to their public through RAIDS Online. RAIDS Online makes it easier for Maricopa County residents to keep track of crime in their area. BAIR offers the public crime mapping service at absolutely no cost to the department or the public as a way to give back to the community. Maricopa County Sheriff is the 5th agency in the Phoenix area to take advantage of the free service. Any city or county in Arizona can provide public crime mapping and anonymous tips to their public through www.raidsonline.com at no cost.

RAIDS Online syncs with the Maricopa County’s crime records system to automatically upload crime information and keep it updated on the map. Maricopa County residents can view crimes near their home, school, work or other area of interest. Citizens who use RAIDS Online to become aware of crime trends can make more informed decisions regarding where they live, shop, play, send their kids to school and other important choices regarding their personal safety.

In addition to a map of crime, RAIDS Online allows citizens to sign up for daily or weekly email reports of recent crime activity. This allows the public to stay informed about crime simply by logging into their email system. The reports list each crime within a certain distance from the user’s address for the past day or week. A sign up from on the RAIDS Online website makes it easy for residents to sign up for reports.

BAIR offers RAIDS Online as a free service to any law enforcement agency who wishes to participate. At present, most agencies spend thousands of dollars annually to provide even the most basic crime map to their community. Maricopa County is providing this service to the public at absolutely no cost to the department.
